Game Day Mani #4

Happy Saturday! I'm so sad the day is almost over. Wah! I had a pretty good day though. Watched some football, had a meeting with my realtor and then went shopping and had a delicious dinner! I hope you all had a good day too. :o)

Today, I have my fourth game day mani for you! I used FingerPaints Black Expressionism and Maybelline Color Show Bold Gold (shocker, I know). I would like to point out that I have only used my Bold Gold about 4 times and the polish is starting to get really thick and chunky, which is kind of disappointing. I'm going to try adding some nail polish thinner to it and hope it clears up the problem. If not, I guess I'll be on the search for another good gold polish to use. Boo! For today's post, I decided to go with a polka dot mani. Personally, I think it could have turned out better. It was my first attempt at doing this, so I guess I'll give myself some credit. I'm thinking next week that I may try another mani with some smaller polka dots and see how that goes! Anywho, here ya go!

What do you think??? I guess it's not too bad for my first try. GO KNIGHTS!

Fun Fact Friday #1

Hey everyone....it's Friday!!!! Who has fun plans this weekend?! Tomorrow I'm pretty much going to be spending the day watching the UCF game and then afterward my husband and I have a meeting with our realtor. Oh yeah, did I forget to tell you??? We're building a house!!! Yay! It's supposed to be done in the beginning of December and I am super duper excited! I am soooo tired of living in an apartment.

Anyway, tonight I have a kind of special post. I have a very love/hate relationship with glitter polish. I looooooove to wear it, but I haaaaate to take it off. Ugh. Well, I have finally got a solution to that problem! There will be no more scrubbing polish off your nails or soaking cotton cotton balls in acetone. All you have to do is use good old Elmer's Glue and your polish will peel right off! I have seen this technique posted on Facebook and a couple blogs in the last couple of weeks and I decided to finally try it. I ordered myself some empty nail polish bottles off EBay and filled one of them with glue. I brushed that on my nails first and let it dry completely. Then I did my usual thing and and peeled it all off the next day. It worked like magic! Look!!!

Those, my friends, are the remains of what used to be Butter London Gobsmacked. I know, right?! Now, I will say that if you're planning to wear your mani for a while (as in more than 2 days), I wouldn't use this technique. After a day my polish was separating a bit from the tips of my nails, so I'm really not sure how long this will really last on your nails before peeling off. But, if you're like me, I can't stand to look at the same color on my nails for more than 24 hours...so this would be perfect for you. :o)

Jessie's Girl Randoms

Hey y'all! It's time for what was supposed to be my wid-week post, which has now kind of turned into an end of the week post. My bad! I was just super tired last night and could barely find the strength to do anything! Blah! Well, if you have had a a not-so-good or mediocre day, this post will definitely make you forget all of that! Tonight, I have for you 3 different Jessie's Girl polishes. I picked these up at Rite Aid a few of months ago and JUST now tried them. Um, what was I thinking...because they are awesome, as you will see!

First up is Wild Thing. This is an extremely bright purple creme polish. Wowza, is it bright! I will point out that it does dry matte, so I wasn't too thrilled with that. The photos are of 2 coats of Wild Thing with SH top coat. Make sure to enlarge these, so you can see the true color!

Next up is Firefly. This is a clear, gold-toned shimmery polish. Because of the coloring of this, my first instinct was to layer it over a blue or green polish. However, me being impatient and not being able to wait...I layered it over Wild Thing. I have to be honest...I hated the combo. It just didn't flow for me. I considered not even posting the photos, but then I figured you all deserve to see my mistakes. So here are the photos...*eek* These are 2 coats of Firefly over Wild Thing.

Uuugh. Okay, here are some swatches of Firefly over Pure Ice Home Run! Now, this is a combo to die for! Just look at it!!!!!!! I loved this so much that I decided to wear it as a pedicure and am still rocking it out on my toes! Photos are of 2 coats of Firefly over two coats of Home Run!

Last, but definitely not least because it is my favorite out of the bunch is.....*drum roll*......Confetti!!!! Confetti is a beautiful blue/purple duochrome and I loooooove it! How in the world did I wait like 3 months to try this?!?! I am ashamed of myself! These photos are of 2 coats of Confetti over 1 coat of Ulta Moody Blues. Enjoy!

So what do y'all think?! I am in love with Confetti and really enjoy Firefly too! Overall, I am just kinda meh about Wild Thing. Have you ever tried Jessie's Girl and what is your opinion???

LUSH is Luscious!

Happy Sunday! How has everyone's day been so far? I've pretty much just been scrubbing down my apartment all day. Bleh! Today, I have for you my first non-nail polish post. I just needed to rave a little bit about a couple of products I ordered from LUSH. LUSH is a store that makes fresh, handmade cosmetics. You can get everything from lotion to shampoo to perfume to bath bombs. I wish I had one of these stores somewhere near me so I could experience the awesomeness in person, but for now I just have to order online. I will say that even though the products I ordered shipped from California, they got here really quickly!

This first photo is of Lemony Flutter and Sweet Lips. Lemony Flutter is an awesome lemon scented cuticle butter! It is so smooth and creamy and amazing! I use it on my cuticles at night before I go to bed and when I wake up in the morning they are still super moisturized! Sweet Lips is an extra awesome lip scrub! The one that I ordered smells and tastes like chocolate chips cookies - need I say more?! They also have one that is bubble gum flavored, so I'm sure that is amazing too!

This next photo is of a sample of soap that they put in with my order called Rock Star. They have TONS of different scented soap, but this one smells like candy! Nomnomnom!

Overall, these are some really great products. LUSH even put their newspaper in with my order which has a list of all of their products with descriptions and instructions for each. It's pretty awesome and I can for sure say I will definitely be ordering more products from them in the future!

OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby?

Hey everyone! How is your Saturday going?! Mine has been pretty good so far. I went to see Disney On Ice with my husband this afternoon and then after that I took a little shopping trip to the HomeGoods store that just opened up here. I would say that makes for a pretty successful Saturday!

Well since today is the first day of Fall, I have a very special color that I picked! Today's mani is OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby? This polish is from OPI's Germany Collection that they recently released. Deutsch You Want Me Baby? is a shimmery orange polish that is pretty much the epitome of Fall. If this polish wasn't part of the Germany Collection, I think it would have been named something like "Pumpkin Spice" because that's exactly what it reminds me of! The following photos are of two coats of DYWMB.

My camera is not good with picking up shimmer (I'm hoping to get a new one soon), but trust me - it's there! Overall, I think this is the perfect color for the first day of Fall!

Nubar Indigo Illusion vs. Spolied Paying With Platinum

Hey all! Happy, happy Thursday! It's almost the end of the week! Wooooooooo! Bet you can't tell that I'm excited! So, today I have for you a special post - it's my first polish comparison. As of right now, I don't really have too many polishes that are extremely close in color because I have just started accumulating my collection within the last few months. However, one of my favorite polishes that I have is Nubar Indigo Illusion. It is such a pretty and unique polish! Well, I was it CVS the other day and I happened to spot Spoiled Paying With Platinum and I thought it looked very similar to Indigo Illusion, so I decided to grab it and see!

After I had applied both of them, I could definitely tell they were not alike at all! I usually use two coats of II and I'm good to go, but for the purpose of consistency in these photos, I layered both polishes over a purple base coat. This is due to PWP being SO sheer! I just couldn't believe it when I put it on! It probably would have taken me a good five coats to get it opaque. Not to mention, the polish was so thin and the brush is huge, so of course I had application problems. Also, PWP took forever to dry! It took so long that I couldn't even wait until it was dry to take these pics!

As you can see in the photos, Indigo Illusion has a lot more going on. Paying With Platinum pretty much just looked purple over the base coat, although is it a little duochromey. Overall, I really did not like PWP and II surpasses it by far. I do have some other Spoiled polishes, and they're not all bad. You can get them at CVS for $1.99, so they're really reasonably priced.

Sally Hansen Ruby Slippers

Good afternoon! Hope everyone is having a great Sunday so far. All I can think is that I am NOT ready for Monday. Not to mention, I know this is going to be a long week at work. So, I'm trying to make myself feel better by baking a super scrumptious pumpkin dessert tonight! Don't you just love pumpkin?! I do! I just cannot wait for October and all that comes with it! Anywho, today's mani is super awesome if you ask me. I have for you an older polish called Sally Hansen Ruby Slippers. This baby is just the perfect color of red and is SO sparkly. I really don't even have words to describe how much I love it, which is saying a lot because red is not one of my favorite polish colors. I have two coats of Ruby Slippers over one coat of Confetti Rock The Night Away with my SH top coat, of course! Wouldn't this just be the perfect Christmas mani???

Ugh. I just can't wait until I get a better camera, because these photos truly do not do this polish any justice! If you're interested in getting one of these babies, I was able to find mine on Ebay!

Game Day Mani #3

Happy Saturday all! Sorry for the lack of posts this week. I usually try to do at least two a week, but work has been crazy...plus I haven't been feeling too well. But, you know I managed to do my game day mani! Today, I have a crackle mani for you! I used Claire's black crackle polish that I got in a mini set over two coats of Maybelline Bold Gold. Of course, I used a top coat of SH Insta Dri.

I love crackle polishes...don't y'all??? I have a few sparkly crackles that I got on sale at Sally Beauty Supply that I haven't tried yet, but hopefully will soon! BTW, Claire's polishes are really good, plus they're usually BOGO! I have also swatched quite a few things today, so I have some really awesome blogs coming for you soon!

Game Day Mani # 2

Happy Saturday everyone! Today I have my second game day mani for y'all. This is definitely a bittersweet manicure because my Knights had a huge game today and they lost, so I am a little sad right now. :o( But, win or lose, the Knights are my team to the end!

Today I did a half moon manicure to show my school spirit! I used one base coat of FingerPaints Black Expressionism and then topped it off with two coats of Maybelline Color Show Bold Gold from the metallic collection. Now, this is the first time I used this FingerPaints color, but I really liked it. It was easy to get great coverage with the one coat. As for the color show polish, I didn't love it. It dried a little streaky and had some bubbles. I definitely will be using this as a stamping polish going forward. The first two photos are outside in the shade, because it was super cloudy and rainy today.

These next two photos were taken outside with the flash on.

So what do y'all think?? I used paper hole reinforcements to do this manicure. It was, overall, pretty easy. I did have an issue getting the lines perfectly smooth because the metallic polish dried much faster than I anticipated. If I waited too long to pull the paper hole reinforcements off my nails, the gold polish pulled a bit and messed up my pretty lines. :o/ I still think it looks pretty good for my first try, though! If you're interested in buying Color Show polishes, I have seen them at Walmart and Rite Aid and they are $2.99 each!

FingerPaints: Gourd or Bad?

Happy Friday!!!!!!!!! It's the weekend - yayayayayayaaaaay! Can you tell I'm excited??? I am also super tired so this is going to be a short, but very sweet post. Today's pictures are of FingerPaints Gourd or Bad? This polish is from their Fall of Surprises Collection for Fall 2012. I found this collection at Sally Beauty Supply and this happened to be the only polish that jumped out at me. I felt like I had to have it because I don't have anything like it at all!

Gourd or Bad is a multicolored bar glitter polish. This polish has blue, green, silver, orange and purple glitter...so pretty much all the pretty fall colors you could want! The formula for this polish was good and it was super easy to get a bunch of glitter on the nail. My photos are of one coat of Gourd or Bad over two coats of Zoya Gemma. Isn't it pretty????

Again, if you want to pick up any FingerPaints polish you can get them at Sally Beauty Supply and they are about $5 each!

Water Marble: Take One

Happy Hump Day, everyone! I have had the longest week so far and am so happy that only two more days stand between me and my weekend! Tonight's post is going to be short - I promise. So, I have some photos of my very first attempt at a water marble. It honestly turned out better than I expected for my first try, but I am still not loving it too much. I used a base coat of New York Color French White Tip. For the actual water marble I used FWT, NYC Fuchsia Shock Creme and NYC Taxi Yellow Creme.

I do have to admit, I am obsessed with how my ring finger turned out. After I did my thumb, I accidentally left a thin film on the top of the water, so the next two nails were hard to do. Like I said, I think it turned out pretty well for my first try, but I will definitely learn from my mistakes to make the next one better! If you're interested in how to do this, just go to YouTube and search for water marble tutorials and a ton of videos will pop up!
